St. Benedict’s Monastery in Old Snowmass, Colorado

August 6, 2026: The monks lived the contemplative life and preserved their land surrounding St. Benedict’s Monastery in Old Snowmass, Colorado for almost seven decades. It would honor them, the indigenous people, and God’s creation if Mr. Alex Karp, who purchased the property and the land from them, would continue this legacy of preservation by formalizing a conservation easement. Perhaps lifelong conservationists and environmentalists, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, could join the Friends of the Monastery, the Aspen Valley Land Trust, and Pitkin County Open Space, in persuading Mr. Karp of the wisdom of this decision.
